What Do You Like To Read About?

Attention, all readers of Reviewers' Bookshelf! We are taking a brief hiatus from our normal program in order to inform you of a poll being taken at this blog.

Reviewers' Bookshelf is a blog created for the enjoyment of people who love books. We love books, and we know you do too. We enjoy reviewing books that we've liked, and we like reading what you have to say about books you like.

But we want to know what kind of books you like. We want to know what YOU would like to see on Reviewers' Bookshelf. We'd love it if you, even, would like to review a book or two for others' benefit.

A few months ago we had a poll on the sidebar, asking readers what kind of reviews they enjoyed. This was good, but it really didn't give us a whole lot of feedback. So we're going to do something a little different. We're asking you to comment on this post and give us your opinion. Please don't be shy! We really want to hear from you. You don't have to give out any kind of personal information. Just share with us what kind of book reviews you'd like to read, and whether or not you would be willing to write a few reviews for the Common Good of All Readers of Reviewers' Bookshelf.

Amy Dashwood said...: I love historical fiction too--it's such a wide genre, and there are so many different kinds of historical fiction books! What time period is your favorite to read about? I think I like the Civil War era and the Edwardian era (1900-ish-to-1920-ish) best.; April 22, 2011 at 10:06 AM

Welcome to the Reviewers' Bookshelf!

This is a blog for the purpose of sharing reviews of good books with friends, and finding new books to read for yourself. Have you been looking for something good to read? If you'd like to become a member of the blog and post your own book reviews, contact Amy or Carolyn.

At this blog, we'll be sharing reviews of books we've enjoyed and want to share with you.

Some guidelines for book reviews:

1) Use your own good judgment, but make sure you are reviewing a book your parents have approved of.

2) Please, no magic or fantasy books. Just be discerning. We'd like to stick to conservative reading as much as possible.

3) Share what you enjoyed and didn't enjoy about the specified book. (Be as positive as possible, though. If you really didn't enjoy a book, don't review it!)

4) Tell us what age group this book might be best for.

5) Let us know where the book can be obtained, if possible (if through a library or bookstore, specify which one.)

6) If you own the book and are willing to lend it, please say so.

7) If someone else has already reviewed the book you want to review, don't let that stop you. More than one opinion is always welcome! Just post a comment on the blog post, and share your thoughts.

8) Use the book's title and author as the blog post title. (Example: Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott)

9) Sign at least your first name at the bottom of the post so we know who's talking. :)

10) If you wish, give the book a star rating, based on a scale of ten. (Example: eight out of ten.)

Readers' guidelines:

1) Use the search engine box to find what you're looking for. You can search by book title, book author, and post author.

2) Feel free to comment on posts!
